Generally, research philosophy has many branches related to a wide range of disciplines. Within the scope of business studies in particular there are four main research philosophies: Pragmatism; Positivism; Realism; Interpretivism (Interpretivist) The Choice of Research Philosophy

Pragmatism Research Philosophy
According to pragmatism research philosophy, research question is the most important determinant of the research philosophy. Pragmatics can combine both, positivist and interpretivism positions within the scope of a single research according to the nature of the research question.

Methodology - Research -Methodology
Research can be defined as “an activity that involves finding out, in a more or less systematic way, things you did not know” (Walliman and Walliman, 2011, p.7). “Methodology is the philosophical framework within which the research is conducted or the foundation upon which the research is based” (Brown, 2006).

Ontology - Research-Methodology
Ontology and epistemology are two different ways of viewing the research philosophy. Ontology in business research can be defined as “the science or study of being” [1] and it deals with the nature of reality.

Positivism Research Philosophy - Research-Methodology
The five main principles of positivism research philosophy can be summarized as the following: There are no differences in the logic of inquiry across sciences. The research should aim to explain and predict. Research should be empirically observable via human senses.

This branch of the research philosophy attempts to clarify if you are trying to explain or predict the world, or are you only seeking to understand it. [3] In simple terms, axiology focuses on what do you value in your research.
